********************************

Inverness Foodstuff is more than just a meal:

Our vision is to be a vibrant community, providing food, friendship and support to all who face significant challenges – including financial hardship and homelessness.

Our mission is to: support the homeless and tackle social isolation, challenge food poverty and combat food waste, reduce harm and enable people to improve their health and well-being.

Inverness Foodstuff was set up as a response to the unmet needs of those experiencing daily challenges, often linked to homelessness. We are a vibrant and connected community that helps people transform their physical mental, and social well being. Our services are centred at our welcoming café (based in the spacious Ness Bank Church hall) which, on three days a week, offers a freshly cooked vegetarian meal and companionship to our participants and acts as a hub where they can access a range of services. In 2023, we extended our services to Hilton Community Centre on a Wednesday and Friday each week.

The hub supports participants in developing new skills and increasing confidence – and we can guide individuals to other services and opportunities. Representatives from health, employability, and other agencies come along to help participants link into mainstream services.  With the right support – and great nutrition and company – we believe that those who experience challenge feel more confident and valued – and can make positive, sustainable changes to their lives.

Welcome from our chair, Stuart Black

It is my privilege to have been serving as chair of Inverness Foodstuff since April 2022. Since its beginnings in 2014 Inverness Foodstuff has grown into a community in which all people are welcomed and accepted, where food and friendship is shared and enjoyed, where people are respected and listened to and where they can connect with the services they need through the partnerships that Inverness Foodstuff have established.

Please take a few minutes to browse through our website to learn more about what we do at Inverness Foodstuff and why we do it – maybe you will find that you too could become part of this hope filled, transformational community!

DIGITAL INCLUSION IS NOT A LUXURY. IT IS A NECESSITY. AND THE LOSS OF Red Chair Highland CIC IS A TRAGEDY.

Today we heard the devastating news that Red Chair Highland, the digital inclusion CIC we have worked alongside for many years, has taken the incredibly difficult decision to go into insolvency.

For Inverness Foodstuff, this is not simply the loss of a partner organisation. It is the loss of

Gillian ForrestWhat a loss for so many folk who need this assistance. Is there anything that can be done to assist Red Chair Highland?

1

Esther MacLeanEspecially if 'they' push for Digi ID

Jan PForsonThis is devastating news 🥲

Doreen MacDonaldThat's terrible. It is signposted by Job Centre as an essential stepping stone for unemployed, unskilled and those suffering from IT poverty. So it's inconceivable that it will be withdrawn. Who is going to fill the gap by the providing the IT services etc which desperate people not only need for basic survival mentally but also physically and which UC services, via Job Centre, flag as crucial in order to fulfil government criteria. In fact they insist on users pursuing the services of The Red Chair project as the first port of call.
